Twenty-Five Years, One Practitioner
The complete history behind OpenSource Consulting Inc. — 1998 to present.
Asif Shaikh's career in enterprise IT began in 1998, on the infrastructure side of the business — the layer most transformation executives eventually stop touching directly. That grounding shaped everything that followed: a career built from the technology up, not from strategy slides down.
As an Infrastructure Administrator supporting Lotus Notes and enterprise systems, he managed Service Level Management, server consolidation to SAN infrastructure for over 20,000 users, and the organization's migration to Windows 2000 and Active Directory — including 3.5 terabyte-per-day backup operations run against defined SLAs. This is where the discipline of measuring service performance, not just delivering it, took root.
At RBC, as a Release Management Specialist, he enforced ITIL discipline across service delivery and built the Service Catalogues and SLA/OLA structures that would recur throughout his career. At Hewlett-Packard Canada, working the CIBC STORM project under HP's own Service Reference Architecture, he managed twelve process leads across Incident, Problem, and Release Management — reducing incident resolution time by 30% and holding a 95% SLA compliance rate across the account.
Six years as Senior Manager – Management Consulting, leading strategic IT service engagements across the United States and Canada. This period produced the breadth that later became Parivarta's foundation: SIAM leadership at the Greater Toronto Airport Authority and Shire Pharmaceutical through a merger; program management for CVS/Caremark's release lifecycle redesign; a ServiceNow-to-Remedy transition for Novartis reaching 90% adoption across 100+ users; governance frameworks for Citibank's global datacenter provisioning and Florida Power & Light's AMI/SmartGrid enterprise CMDB; and an end-to-end ITSM solution built for State Street Financial around a federated CMDB model.
As Senior Manager – Management Consultant, he architected Cognizant's proprietary SIAM 360 framework — a global service offering integrating multi-vendor governance, operational blueprints, and Organizational Change Management as one coherent product, not three separate workstreams. He served as solution architect across enterprise deals exceeding $50M individually — Whirlpool, Merck, Wynn Resorts, Novartis, ABB, Medtronic, and DirecTV — sustaining $40M+ client relationships through eight years of account growth.
Two engagements from this period stand out. At Merck's Westpoint, US site, he led the transformation of the cybersecurity unit from a traditional Service Model to an agile Product Model; the resulting proof of concept, recognized internally as "innovative and transformative," directly generated a $45–50M Total Contract Value transformation deal. At Medtronic in Minnesota, he directed the transition of 400+ applications to Application Managed Services, leading a 50-person hybrid onshore/offshore team through the entire migration with zero service continuity breaches.
A focused engagement analyzing operating models and ITSM processes against a KPMG audit compliance review, resulting in a proprietary Unified Operating Model spanning six governed modules — Organizational Change Management, Operations Management, Service Modeling, Process Enhancement, Technology Enhancement, and Supplier Management. This is the direct ancestor of the module structure Parivarta and Truss both run on today.
Asif first ran OpenSource Consulting from 2003 to 2006, designing IT solutions, service catalogues and SLA/OLA structures for small businesses and their vendors. He relaunched OSCI in 2024 as an independent practice, adding the full Google Cybersecurity Certificate, Google AI Essentials, Responsible AI and Generative AI training, and the Certified Scrum Product Owner credential to 25 years of delivery.
From May to August 2026, OSCI delivered SIAM and network-security operating-model assessments for a Fortune 6 global energy company through ISG (Information Services Group), closing the engagement with executive readouts and transformation roadmaps.
Today OSCI works as a leadership solutions architecture practice. The thread through all of it is the same: modern IT is assembled from suppliers, platforms and now AI agents, and someone has to make the whole accountable to the business outcome. OSCI does that across four disciplines — AI governance, IT strategy and operating model, supplier management, and governance — as fractional leadership one to three days a week, fixed-price assessments, and leadership workshops.
